Education & Professional Background
Sofia Kalamaris completed her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food at Toronto Metropolitan University, followed by her supervised practice internship through the Integrated Dietetic Internship (IDI) program. She subsequently obtained her Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) designation, reflecting advanced training in diabetes pharmacology, self-management education, and behavioural change counselling.
Her clinical background spans hospital-based nutrition support, outpatient chronic disease management, and private practice. This breadth of experience allows her to work confidently with complex cases; including patients managing type 1 or type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, gestational diabetes, and cardiovascular risk- while maintaining a warm, accessible approach that puts patients at ease.
Professional Values
The principles that guide every patient interaction and clinical decision.
Patient-Centered Care
Every consultation begins with listening. Treatment plans reflect each patient's individual circumstances, preferences, and health goals; never a one-size-fits-all template.
Evidence-Based Practice
Recommendations are grounded in peer-reviewed research and current clinical guidelines. Patients receive strategies that are proven to work. Not trends or conjecture.
Transparent Communication
Clear, jargon-free explanations empower patients to make informed decisions. Open dialogue is a non-negotiable part of every appointment.
Clinical Approach
Kalamaris practices integrative nutrition care addressing not only dietary intake, but the behavioural, lifestyle, and psychological factors that shape long-term health outcomes. She collaborates closely with referring physicians, endocrinologists, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, cohesive care.
Her approach prioritizes education and self-efficacy: patients leave each session with a clear understanding of the "why" behind their plan, the tools to implement it confidently, and the ongoing support to sustain progress over time.
Comprehensive Initial Assessment
In-depth review of medical history, laboratory values, lifestyle patterns, and personal goals to build a precise, individualized nutrition plan
Preventive & Proactive Management
Early intervention strategies to reduce the risk of complications, improve biomarkers, and support long-term metabolic health before issues escalate
Whole-Person Wellness
Integrating nutrition with sleep, stress management, physical activity, and mental wellbeing for outcomes that extend well beyond the clinic
